Each semester, we organize a taster day for prospective students to explore the content and study opportunities of the subjects offered within the ALPHA program, featuring a varied and engaging program. You can also get to know the individual subjects of the ALPHA degree program during the university open house<\/a> organized by JGU. Here you can get initial information about the program of study and talk to students and lecturers. The next Open University Day will take place on 26.06.2024<\/a>. JGU’s guest student program allows students to attend individual courses by arrangement with the lecturers. Registration for the guest student program is done at JGU via the Center for Lifelong Learning<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n<\/jgu-base-section>\n

As part of the “Studying 50+” (life-long learning) program, specially tailored events are offered each semester. Here too, registration takes place via the Center for Continuing Education<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n

Cooperation with schools has long been a particular concern of the Institute of Classical Studies. For this reason, the Mainz Ancient Studies Network University School (MANUS) was founded in 2016. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project pursues the goal of integrating the results of current research in ancient studies into school lessons in a meaningful way and thus promoting the transfer of knowledge between university and school. The focus is on the earliest advanced civilizations of mankind: Ancient Egypt, the Ancient Orient and Classical Antiquity (Greece and Rome). Thematically, there are points of contact with various scientific disciplines from archaeology to philology and Cultural Studies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through various methods (use of teaching collections, station work, etc.), pupils are familiarized with the material remains and imagery of ancient cultures as well as their history, different languages and writing systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Information on school projects at the IAW<\/strong>Egyptology goes to schoolClassical Archaeology school projects involving the teaching collection<\/p>\n\n\n\n
