The course is intended as a practical introduction to osteology and methods of archaeozoological data collection.

The focus is literally on understanding animal bones:
- Which bone am I holding in my hand?
- Why does it come from a horse and not a cow?
- When did this animal die?
- What do these “defects” on the bone mean?

Upon completion of the course, the first step in faunal analysis and archaeozoological studies will have been taken: the classification of bones from an archaeological inventory according to established criteria.

This course is worth 2 credit points.
